Delivered by Pastor Kenneth J. Monahan

Title: Don't waste your life

Scripture: Ephesians 5:15-17, Romans 6:13, Matthew 6:24, Luke 14:25, Proverbs 3:5-6, 1 Timothy 4:7, Psalm 39:6, Habakkuk 3:2, Hebrews 1:12

How do you know what God wants you to do with your life? Simple, do some simple hard work.

Mark this word in your bible: “careful” – opposite is careless Greek: Don’t stumble through life, don’t drift through life.

Make the most of every opportunity that God gives you.

40 Days of Purpose will help you with this question. It is not too late to join.

Three Key Questions:

1) What does God want from me for my life?

He wants your whole, entire, life.

Rom 6:13 – Give yourself completely and wholly.

Author C.S. Lewis, "The only thing Christianity cannot be is moderately important"

God does not want to be pigeon holed. The old myth is you can have/do it all.

Matt 6:24 – Sermon on the Mount. You cannot have two masters (money and God).

Where are you saying to God, "me first or let me first or but"?

Luke 14:25 – What excuses are you giving to God to put yourself first?

2) What does it take to not waste my life?

What does it take to become all that God wants me to be? What does it take to reach my potential?

Prov 10:17 – You cannot be a disciple without discipline 1 Tim 4:7.

What if you were as disciplined in your quite time as you were about missing a meal?

What if you as disciplined at serving others as you were at going to work in the morning?

The Major Goal of 40 Days
Keeping Spiritually Fit (1 Tim 4:7)

Hebrews 1:12

Here are two things which keep us from reaching our potential:

  1. ) Wait – something that is not necessary. You cannot say yes to everything. You have to make space for God in your life. You have to cut some things out of your life.
  2. ) Sin!

Psalms 39:6

3) Why should I take the time to grow spiritually?

Eternal benefits.

Two words sum it up: "The Cross"

He expects your life in return.

Have you ever wanted to be part of a miracle?

Habakkuk 3:2 is our key verse.
