Philosophy
The Dover Christian Preschool has been created to give the preschooler, age 4-5, in our community the opportunity for group training and experiences in a Christian atmosphere. Our desire is for children to have a positive preschool experience guided by a staff who loves children and whose own lives reflect Biblical principles and a love of God.
Our aim is for the children to grow intellectually, socially, physically, emotionally and spiritually. Every aspect of a child's life and family is important to us and it is our goal to minister with Christian Love to the whole child and his family.
Curriculum
The curriculum features materials from various sources collected, revised, and updated during years of teaching experience. Thematic units are covered throughout the school year which include seasons, holidays, making friends, safety, community helpers, tools and machines, communication, space and many more. Reading readiness includes instruction in phonics. Math activities include the use of manipulative materials and we have many hands-on science projects to stimulate interest and learning. Our program also includes field trips (apple orchard, fire station, hospital, Portsmouth Children’s Museum, Library, etc.) music, arts and crafts and physical exercise.
