Message Series: The Promise of the Holy Spirit
I've been thinking...
By Pastor Ken Monahan
Excellence is the quality of being outstanding or extremely good – the very best. (Vocab.com). Excellence is a quality people really appreciate because it is so hard to find. Brad Lomenick in his book, The Catalyst Leader challenges leaders to create an organization where excellence is non-negotiable! (Lee Kricher). That statement got me thinking. What do you expect from the Church? What are our expectations of this group of people that desire to see others come to know Jesus as their savior? The Church is unique. It is the Body of Christ made up of individuals that come together, to worship, pray together and work together to reach others for Jesus Christ. In the cultural venue in which we are now living mediocrity is accepted as good and good is considered best. These standards must be rejected. They are unbelievably wrong. Ask any recent Olympic athlete if they would have made the team if their personal goal had been good enough. Ask any professional football or baseball player if their highest standard were mediocrity would they still be employed? You know the answer.
